Reaching for Scholarship Gold
For students, life-changing thoughts of attending college go hand in hand with sobering thoughts of how to fund a higher education degree. Most four-year graduates obtain their diploma in one hand and a whopping $30,000+ bill in the other hand. Thankfully, there are ways to bring that price tag down considerably, as Casey Karlsen, a recent graduate from Washington State University-Vancouver discovered. Scholarships are grants or payments made to support a student’s education, awarded based on academic or other achievements. These grants made by a variety of organizations, can shave thousands off the cost of a college education and allow students a more realistic amount to pay back after graduation.
