Community Military Appreciation Committee Presents “Heroes Night” Celebration

Community Military Appreciation Committee Presents “Heroes Night” Celebration

The Community Military Appreciation Committee (CMAC) will present the third annual Vancouver/SW WA “Heroes Night” celebration on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the East Vancouver Costco located at 19610 SE 1st St., Vancouver. A car show starts at 4:30 pm, with Costco reopening for festivities and shopping from 6:30-9:00 pm. CMAC has organized this event, with help from its generous sponsor Columbia Credit Union, to honor our military veterans, police, firefighters and others on the “front lines” in protecting our community and country–genuine heroes all.

Opening remarks and introductions of this year’s most honored heroes will be made by retired Army Colonel Larry J. Smith.  Larry is also a former Vancouver City Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem.

Proceeds from this event will benefit local heroes. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about and meet local heroes from various veteran and active military organizations, firefighters, EMTs, members of area police departments, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, our Northwest “Battle Buddies” (trained service dogs) and their veteran companions to name a few. There will be super-sized food samples, coupons and plenty of family fun. Plus, Columbia Credit Union staff will be on hand to surprise unsuspecting shoppers with “Making Life Better” moments throughout the evening–you could be selected to receive something special, including a limited number of Costco Gift of Memberships! The entire community is welcome.

A classic car show featuring Mustangs, Corvettes, and more, along with an adjacent food tent featuring cuisine from Corbett Fish House, Qdoba Mexican Grill and others will delight participants. “Classics” will include vintage military vehicles and the 40 et 8’s “Loci” that is a regular in our community’s various parades.

CMAC is an all-inclusive organization representing a diverse cross-section of our community, including youth, education, active/reserve military, veterans groups, including representatives from state and local governments.  CMAC executes and plans community-wide events, such as Memorial Day, Veterans Day, “Our Community Salutes,” and POW/MIA Day ceremonies, as well as recognition/support of military families of all services, including our Gold Star families.
