SUMMARY:Milagro Presents: Brown Face
DESCRIPTION:This Pacific Northwest premiere brings the electrifying energy of spoken-word poetry to the stage! \nIt’s risky for an undocumented young Chicana writer to share her work in public. When this brilliant poet asks her best friend to perform her work onstage\, the words ignite audiences and launch her stand-in into the spotlight as a rising Latinx voice. But as the applause grows louder\, so do the questions: Who owns a story? Who gets heard? And what happens when activism and ambition collide? \nBlending theatre with the pulse of the poetry-slam scene\, Brown Face explores friendship\, identity\, and cultural appropriation with humor\, heart\, and urgency. \nIn a city like Portland\, where spoken word artistry and social justice have long gone hand in hand\, this fierce\, powerful\, and deeply relevant new play invites audiences to lean in\, listen closely\, and join the conversation. \nAre you a poet\, writer\, or monologuer?\nEVERY performance of Brown Face will open with a 15-minute open-mic slam prologue. Jump in and Share a poem\, passage\, joke\, or story. \nTo sign up for any 3-minute slot for the slam prologue\, email Artistic Associate mia@milagro.org \nPlease note: Brown Face tickets are required for entry to the theatre \nBrown Face\nWritten by: Carissa Atallah\nMay 7 – 23\, 2026\n\nTICKETS\n\nLanguage: English\n\nAdults – $30\nSeniors – $26\nStudents – $22\n*This performance is suitable for ages 13 and up \n\nRun Time: TBA

SUMMARY:Metropolitan Performing Arts Presents: Footloose
DESCRIPTION:When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town\, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. But he’s not prepared for the rigorous local edicts\, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher\, who is determined to exercise control over the town’s youth. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren\, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation. The heartfelt story that emerges pins a father longing for the son he lost against a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people while guiding them with a warm heart and open mind. \nShow Dates: May 8-24 \n\n\n\n\nFriday\, May 8\, 2026   7:00 PM \nOpening Night (with optional VIP party add-on)\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSaturday\, May 9\, 2026   6:30 PM \nASL! SUMMARY:Metropolitan Performing Arts Presents: Footloose
DESCRIPTION:Main Stage presents: “Footloose” \nWhen Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town\, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. But he’s not prepared for the rigorous local edicts\, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher\, who is determined to exercise control over the town’s youth. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren\, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation\, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges pins a father longing for the son he lost against a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. To the rockin’ rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top 40 score\, augmented with dynamic new songs\, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people while guiding them with a warm heart and open mind. \nPerformances are May 8\,15\, 22 at 7PM\, May 9\,16\,23 at 6:30pm and May 10\,17\, 24 at 2pm. Special VIP donor hour before opening night on May 8th\, Family Day is May 10th at 2pm – PRIDE DAY Performance is Saturday May 16th at 6:30PM and MPA Alumni Night is May 23rd at 6:30PM. SUMMARY:We Are Taiwan
DESCRIPTION:“We Are Taiwan” is an 80-minute immersive performance presented in celebration of Taiwanese American Heritage Week.
