“We Are Taiwan” is an 80-minute immersive performance presented in celebration of Taiwanese American Heritage Week. Created by the National Taiwan University of Sport Dance Company and presented by the Taiwanese Association of Greater Portland, it explores Taiwan’s rich and diverse cultural identity.
Blending dance, music, singing, and theater, the performance draws inspiration from the island’s varied cultures, highlighting contemporary expression, ethnic traditions, and the vibrant energy of folk arts. Through dynamic movement and storytelling, the dancers embody the emotional depth, spiritual traditions, and resilience of Taiwanese heritage, alongside the creativity of a new generation.
With moments of audience interaction, the production becomes a shared experience—transforming culture from something observed into something felt and lived. As the performance concludes, audiences are left with a vivid impression of Taiwan itself: diverse, expressive, and illuminated through every movement.
