School’s Out, Summer Camps are In!

School’s Out, Summer Camps are In!

The final days of school are here and for many parents, this means a flurry of activity:  carnivals, school field trips, class parties, graduations, etc. This is a time of joy, pride in our children’s accomplishments, and some needed relief from the busy schedule! And in the midst of all of this, there’s also the looming question . . . what are we going to do this summer?

Vancouver Parks and Recreation offers a number of ways to keep your child active, engaged and learning throughout the summer. From full day camps loaded with activities, projects and field trips to a variety of shorter sport-focused camps, we have something to keep every kid focused this summer. We even have free programs at various parks throughout Vancouver! All with a common theme of having FUN!

Summer camps are important for every child’s development as it gives them the chance to meet new friends, develop a sense of independence and try new adventures away from the home. They provide kids with a safe environment, the chance to develop self-confidence and learn new skills. Perhaps the most important aspect for kids is that it’s a no-parent zone and they feel free to grow on their own.Get OutThe most important aspect for most parents is that it gets their children out of house, away from the television and away from high-tech distractions. Kids will have the opportunity to learn life lessons, the importance of conflict resolution and how to effectively communicate with others. No matter what type of personality your child has they will have the chance to thrive in a camp setting. Our camp directors will be sensitive to children’s needs, unique personalities and will help them develop over the duration of the summer.

Come join us this summer as we give your child the chance to develop lifelong memories and gain valuable new friendships! After all, it’s better than hearing “Mom, Dad, I’m bored!” all summer long right? Or seeing them watch Harry Potter for the hundredth time thinking they will magically enter Hogwarts when they turn 11 (yes, I was hoping for the same thing as I turned 30). We look forward to sharing all these experiences with you and your child this summer!
