New in Town?

When I moved to Vancouver with my family 15 years ago, it felt like a whole new world. I grew up in Oregon, so even though moving over the river wasn’t really that far in miles, it still felt like I was stepping into a different reality. I was learning my way around town, I hadn’t befriended anyone, I was starting a new job, and I was just beginning to take college courses. I felt energized by the change in lifestyle, but many families transitioning to a new community feel overwhelmed and isolated. Either way, if you’re new in town and looking for a beginner’s guide to getting settled in Clark County, here are some of the ‘must-knows’ as you begin to establish your roots in vivacious Vancouver, and the surrounding 650 square miles that Clark County covers.
